You Can Now Book Ola Cab Without Internet

Booking Ola cabs has now become easier as the India’s largest cab aggregator has now made it possible to book a cab without an internet connection. The announcement about the launch of ‘Ola Offline’ was made today.

This new feature is available across all categories – Micro, Mini, Prime, and Lux and excludes categories such as shared rides, auto rickshaws, shuttles, rentals and outstation cabs. (Also read: WhatsApp Introduces Snapchat-Like Camera Features)

Further, users only based in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai cam make use of this new offline feature. However, the offline feature will soon be rolled out in the 102 cities where the company operates in the next few weeks.

This offline feature allows passengers on slow networks to make a booking by sending a couple of SMSes. (Also read: Facebook Enables Chat Encryption In Messenger)

You must be wondering how this new 'Ola Offline' works. Here is the step-by-step process to book a cab offline.

1. You will get two options to book a cab on the Ola app in the absence of an Internet connection - Retry or Book via SMS.

2. You can either choose to retry if you have come to a place where you can get better Internet connectivity, or you can go with the second option sans internet connection.

3. If you want to book via SMS, you will get redirected to their default messaging app where you will see a pre-entered text message requesting Ola to book a cab.

4. As soon as you send a text message to Ola, you will get an SMS with the particulars of the nearest available cabs across all categories the way you get now.

5. Once you select your preferred cab category, you will receive details regarding the driver and the cab instantly by SMS.

6. The driver on the other hand will also receive customer contact details and the GPS triangulated location of the user.

7. When the internet connectivity resumes, GPS tracking, the ride details, SOS button, and other features associated with the ride will be made available to the user on the app.
